Meet the Blogger

As I start off this blog, I realize that most bloggers do a long post introducing themselves. I don’t know how long mine will be—I don’t know that I’m a particularly interesting person. But I guess I can start with telling you why I’m doing this whole blogging thing.

Let me start at the beginning, though. My name’s Steph, and I’m 27 years old. I was a high school English teacher for about four years before I felt like it was time to move onto something else. After all, life is too short to be stuck in your comfort zone. I struggled to find out what to move on to. The world was my oyster; I could do anything I wanted, and yet, I didn’t know what I wanted to jump into.

Then I rediscovered my passion for doing DIY. I began making T-shirt designs and Mickey Ears (for a Disney Trip) and then I broadened my horizons when a friend talked to me about decorating her home. I knew the style she liked and her budget, so I began making some simple rustic DIY decorations inspired by her home. I just used simple, affordable materials like wood, nails, and string to make string art. Soon after, I branched out to mason jars, then to wood décor. One day as I was making crafts, I realized, Man, this feels really good. I want to keep doing this.

And so, I kept doing “this.” I frequented dollar stores, thrift stores, and clearance areas to buy an assortment of random items that inspired me. And I haven’t stopped yet. You see, I find that being creative and making something with your hands is like nothing else in the world. And yet, in the middle of all my creative bursting, there’s another facet to DIY that I was missing: sharing my knowledge with others. I am still a teacher at heart, and to me, there’s nothing better than sharing a passion with others so that they can experience the same joy I do through the DIY journey.

That’s why I’m here. I started up this DIY blog under the same name as my Etsy shop so that I could share with the world how I make the products that bring me such joy. I strive to provide clear instructions for each craft, step-by-step illustrations for each step, and any assistance I can offer as you try these crafts. Working on this blog and sharing my passion and knowledge with all of you is a dream come true, so thank you for your support, kindness, and the passion you bring to the table! I look forward to working with all of you on this DIY journey.
