5+ DIY Crafts With the Red Truck And Christmas Tree Design

I’d like to blame thank Chip and Joanna Gaines for bringing farmhouse style into the main culture, but I don’t think it’s entirely their fault. To me, farmhouse style represents simpler times. In today’s very complicated, messy world, simplicity is a welcome presence in our homes. Of course, there are many popular trends to go with that farmhouse style (like the farmhouse sign I posted a tutorial for here) but a big one at Christmastime is the red truck and tree.

This is such a versatile design that I’ve seen it in just about every facet: from pillows to wreaths to wrapping paper, that red truck and tree design is everywhere. But what are some ways you could DIY it into your house in a way that won’t break bank? That’s exactly the question I’d like to answer today. 🙂

Here are 5+ ways you can DIY red truck decor into your home for very little money!

#1: Ornaments

Technically, there are 3 ornaments here: The wood slice ornament, the round ornament, and the car ornament. I have a full tutorial for the wood slice ornament here. As for the round ornament, those are a matter of having the right file to print out on your Cricut or Silhouette machine, or being a more talented artist than me and drawing it on. 🙂

And the truck…That’s easy! Go to your local thrift store and sift through all the hot wheel vehicles they have. Find any colored truck, paint it red, and add a mini tree.

#2: Decorative Plate

I had so much fun with this one, particularly because there are so many different directions you can go with it. I went to Walmart and bought a white plate for less than $1, and then I used vinyl along with my Cricut Maker. Of course, plates are available everywhere, including Amazon if you love having things delivered to your home so you don’t have to venture out unnecessarily in the winter months.

#3: Decorative Mug

There are ways to make mugs and plates dishwasher safe even after doing designs on them, but since I just intended for my mug to be a decorative holder for a tree, I didn’t bother taking any of those measures. This is another fun one because, like the plate, there are so many different directions you can go with personalizing your design.

#4 Lantern Scene

#5 Framed Art

This one is my own personal design of the red truck and tree in a stained wood frame. Want either design? Click here to join my email list and get it for free!

#6 Shadowbox

This one entails a putting a piece of scrapbook paper in the back, cutting out a truck and tree on medium cardboard, and making a a snowman out of wood slices. The rest is buffalo snow and snowflake stickers from Dollar Tree!

Bonus: Christmas Cookies

I typically bake a ton of cookies to give away as gifts, so when I saw this one on Amazon, I couldn’t help but gush over it. I can just imagine decorating these red truck cookies with kids or friends and seeing everyone’s creative spin on it.

I could go on and on with this list. Like I said at the start, I’ve seen the red truck in many capacities this year, and many of them are easily imitated if you have the right tools!

If you don’t have the time to DIY any red truck crafts, here are some of my favorite products from Amazon.
