Cutout Bunny Canvas Art

I looked at the calendar the other day and realized that Easter is quickly approaching! With all the chaos in the world around us, celebrating the small and the big things is even more important than ever. So, for the next few weeks, I’ll be doing DIY tutorials for Easter crafts. I’ll also be trying to make crafts that center around household materials, since so many are trying to stay quarenteened and out of local stores.

With all that said, let’s get to today’s craft: The Cutout Bunny Canvas Art

Materials:

10 Inch Canvas
Scrapbook Paper
Bunny Clipart

Tools:

Pencil
X-acto knife of Cricut
Scissors
Glue

Optional Materials/Tools

Paint & Paint Brush
Wood Canvas Frame

1. First off, you’ll need a bunny for your design. Here’s just a few:

2. For this craft, I’m recommending you use a 10×10 canvas. With that in mind, you’ll want your bunny rabbit to be 8 inches tall or wide max. Print out your image and cut around it so you have a nice stencil to trace.

3. Optional: If you’re painting your canvas a certain color, now’s the time to do that.

4. Trace around your bunny stencil onto your canvas using your pencil.

5. Use your x-acto knife to cut the bunny out of the center of your canvas. If you have a Cricut device, you could just have that cut out the bunny shape for you.

6. Cut your scrapbook paper out in a square or rectangle to fit behind your bunny. Glue that paper into the back of the canvas behind the rabbit.

If you wanted to, you could call it quits here! This craft is really defined by the shape of bunny you choose and and the patterned paper you put behind it. Mine felt too plain with the cutout I chose and the pattern, so I added one more step: a wood frame. I made mine just out of scrapwood that I had down in the basement. I cut it to size, stained it, and then used superglue to attach it to the sides of the canvas.

Be sure to subscribe and stay tuned for more Easter DIYs.

Happy DIYing!

Steph
